All Katanas > #NH022: Katana signed: Kato Kunihide and dated 1812
Product description
| Special feature: | Signed and dated original condition Nakago |
| Full notes: | This is an all original blade signed Kato Kunihide and 1812, this year marks 200 years since it was hand forged. The blade has a beautiful curvature for an Edo period forge. This smith was from Suishinshi Masahide School which at the time was located in Musashi which is currently Tokyo. The Nakago remains untouched, the blade is in older polish and has two visible spots, but all the details can be seen clearly and it is still incredibly sharp.
The Koshirae is very attractive and the fittings are of Shakudo. Both Dragon and Shishi dogs, which are mythical creatures of power. The Tsuba is very nicely carved with much detail.
