Very rare and unique Kenukigata Tanto signed Hayama Enshin, with NBTHK Hozon

SKU: NH0190 Category:
Description

This very nice Kenukigata style Tanto by the well known Hayama Enshin, it is a stunning Utsushi. The construction is quite interesting as the Nakago/handle, Habaki, blade is all one solid piece of Iron. Enshin’s signature along with the date Meiji Boshin (1868AD) and is covered by the tsuba that slides off only upwards towards the tip once the gold Menuki is removed. The Saya is original to the blade and is extremely heavy, appears to have silver and gold sheet layering. The nakago is covered in a bronze/ copper like alloy, the blade itself is very heavy and understandable so due to the amount of iron used. This piece is far to rare to not add to ones collection as most examples similar to this are in museums.
